OFF THE RECORD is an exhibition of zines and artist books presented during Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair 2025. Curated by Departure Lounge the exhibition features emerging artists working in Los Angeles and across the United States who examine our entangled social-political relationships with more-than-human subjects. The gathered artists use creative publishing as a foil to traditional forms of  cultural criticism and grassroots journalism. During the bookfair, DEPARTURE LOUNGE will serve as a small gallery and site of distribution.

DEPARTURE LOUNGE Los Angeles (DLLA) is a nomadic exhibition platform supporting overworked artists and underfunded models of cultural exchange. Co-founded by Jamison Edgar and Matthew McGaughey, the roving gallery operates through partnerships with fixed institutions to provide artists with the space, skilled labor, and material resources to exhibit new artwork.
